Five individuals, who attended the Diabetes Awareness Seminar on Nov. 5 at the Cumberland Medical Center Wellness Complex at Fairfield Glade, were winners of door prizes.
Three are members of the Complex. They are Marlene Scott, who won a Mealtime Companion Plate, Scott Arnold a $25 Walmart gift card, and Kathy Waisane a nutrition label weight scale.
Two non member winners included Wade Stover, who won a $25 Walmart gift card, and Maxine Reed, who won a Wellness Complex 20-visit punch card.
It was organized by Rachel Richardson, LPN, the nurse on duty at the Wellness Complex at Fairfield Glade. She and Joanie Raines, LPN, at the Wellness Complex at Crossville arrange monthly health-related seminars for members and the general public.
Drug Take Back Day
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department and the Cumberland Medical Center Wellness Complex at Crossville are cooperating on a “Drug Take Back” program scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15.
To drop off out-of-date prescriptions, unneeded over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and other pharmaceutical products, simply drive up in front of the Wellness Complex at 130 Woodmere Mall and hand items to Chief Investigator Casey Cox of the Sheriff’s Department. He will see to proper disposal.
The event is from 6 to 8 A.M. and again from 2 to 4 P.M.
All pharmaceuticals will be incinerated. CMC will take syringes and items for sterile disposal. All plastic containers will be recycled.
Cox said Tennessee ranks 2nd for abuse of prescription drugs.
He added, “Getting unnecessary pills and miscellaneous unused medical products out of homes helps discourage drug-addicted individuals from adding burglary and theft to their bad habits.”
Gift certificates available
Gift certificates for massages at the Cumberland Medical Center Wellness Complexes at Crossville and Fairfield Glade will be available for ten percent off the regular price from Friday, Nov. 23 to Sunday, Dec.23.
Persons, who schedule massages on a regular basis, may also take advantage of a “gift certificate for self” at this holiday reduced price for a future massage.
With each gift certificate purchased, a ticket will be included for a free one-hour massage with the therapist of choice. Hot stone massage is excluded. The drawing will be at the end of the day, Dec. 23.
Enrollment Fee Special
A special one-day $20 enrollment fee will be available Nov. 23 to area residents, who want to become members of the Cumberland Medical Center Wellness Complexes.
The special price will be offered Friday, Nov. 23, the day after Thanksgiving, at both the facility in Crossville and at Fairfield Glade.
No other discounts will apply with this special offer.
The special is part of a continuing effort to help Cumberland County residents keep off holiday weight gain by exercising regularly and eating healthy foods in appropriate amounts.
