For The Vista
The Fairfield Glade Board of Directors shares the following information with you regarding our Post Office for which the Community Club is the contracting party with the United States Postal Service:
Under a recently proposed performance based contract from the United States Postal Service, the Fairfield Glade Community Club would have its current fixed fee contract with the United States Postal Service reduced by approximately $12,000 annually.
Since the subcontractor of the Fairfield Glade Contract Postal Unit could not reduce its expenses to cover this reduction, the Board of Directors of the Fairfield Glade Community Club has determined that it is not in the best interests of the Community Club to pay a private contractor to operate the Post Office in Fairfield Glade.
Additionally, since the Fairfield Glade Community Club Board of Directors and staff do not believe we could operate a Post Office at a profit, and because a Post Office is not part of the Community Club’s core business, we have asked the United States Postal Service to terminate our Contract Postal Unit (CPU) contract and to find another entity that would be willing to have a Contract Postal Unit in their retail establishment.
A printed notice from the United States Postal Service has been posted in the Crossville Post Office for any parties interested in having a Contract Postal Unit.
The Board’s contact at the United States Postal Service has indicated that they want to have a smooth transition so that the postal customer is not negatively impacted.
The current Fairfield Glade Post Office should continue to operate as is until another Contract Postal Unit is in operation.
