Carmin tabbed Lions’ top student

For The Vista
Katelyne Carmin will graduate from The Phoenix School at the end of this current school year.
She was selected by her Counselor Breanna Van Winkle to be recognized as one of the Fairfield Glade Lions Club “Students of the Month”. The Lions Club chose the month of January for Katelyne’s honor.
Ten senior students are selected each school year from the Cumberland County High Schools as a “Student of the Month” by their Counselor.
Four are chosen from each CCHS and SMHS and two are selected from The Phoenix School. Selection is based on grades, school activities, and involvement with other organizations. The student must also have definite plans to attend higher education.
Katelyne Carmin is a very good student and shows her love for other children and animals in many ways. She is taking a class at the Baby Bird Learning Center where she helps kids with various disabilities. She volunteers her time at Best Friends Veterinary Hospital because she loves to take care of animals when they are sick. She takes care of her neighbors 4 horses, 2 dogs and 3 cats when they are out of town.
She also works 18 hours a week at IGA. Her hobbies are horseback riding, swimming, caring for animals and reading. Her future plans are to attend a Veterinary School after completing a couple years at Roane State College.
This is another fine example of a young student who has a future plan in mind and has set out goals to obtain their dream.
Katelyne and her family will be invited to a special FFG Lions Club Dinner in May 2014 with all of the other “Students of the Month” and the School Counselors.
The students will be introduced separately and presented with an engraved plaque showing their name and special month.
Lion Bob Cover has been Chairman of this Lions Program for the past several years.
He has a special feeling for all these kids and much thanks and appreciation for the Cumberland County Schools and the Senior Counselors for their participation.
This is one way that a Service Club like the Lions and the School System can show these young adults that WE CARE and are proud of their accomplishments and future plans.
