Community Band Christmas Concert December 11
The CCC Band is pleased to announce that the final concert of the 2009 season, the annual Christmas Concert, will be held at Stone Memorial High School on the evening of December 11, 2009 beginning at 7:30 pm.
Compositions by American composer Leroy Anderson will be featured with two of his well known seasonal works presented:
A Christmas Festival and Sleigh Ride. Also at this concert, in addition to the familiar and traditional selections heard during this season of the year, the CCC Band has selected and prepared several newer and interesting tunes for the enjoyment of our audience. Two of these are: Stars and Stripes for Christmas (where Santa meets Sousa) and A Stowaway on Santa’s Sleigh.
In addition, the band is pleased to have Jay D. David appearing as guest vocalist, to be featured in Irving Berlin’s, White Christmas. David began his career with a first place award on the Arthur Godfrey Talent Scout TV Show and has also appeared on the Ed McMahon Variety Show on CBS. David has toured with notable bands including Xavier Cugat and Frankie Carle. A recording vocalist for Comstock Records, David kept busy during his career with as many as 200 bookings a year. Currently retired and a resident in the Crossville area, Jay and his wife Sandy combine work and travel while performing in retirement communities across the midwestern and southern states. Most recently, David appeared at the Crossville Palace Theatre in the Encore Tribute to the Rat Pack.
The CCC Band looks forward to presenting this holiday concert with our best Christmas wishes to all of our friends and supporters. As always, there is no admission charge.
A note to concert attendees: the night of our performance at SMHS will be a busy one at that location as there is also a varsity basketball game taking place in the school . Because of this, parking may be somewhat congested. Please be patient and be prepared for a longer walking distance to the auditorium.
