No weapons will be allowed to be discharged at this area including firearms and archery. Signage has been posted to this effect and violators will be prosecuted. If anyone witnesses such activities at this area, please call Public Safety at 484-3785.
The closest place that allows such activities is the Sportsman Club located on Shorty Barnes Road. You can call them at 707-9033 for membership information.
The Community Club wished to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, but added that they are looking out for the Club’s best interest.
Winter Driving Safety Tips:
Clear off the snow and ice on your vehicle’s windshield. Do not drive through a small, cleared spot in your windshield. “Peephole driving” reduces your visibility and is very dangerous.
Be extra wary of other motorists that are on the road. They may not be driving as cautiously as you. Leave extra space; avoid distraction; and be predictable by signaling clearly ahead of any turns or lane changes.
Avoid sudden actions. In slick conditions, a sudden action can cause your vehicle to slide out of control or someone else to slide out of control.
Allow longer distances for your actions when driving on any slick surface. Plan on starting your actions sooner than you normally would in dry condition to give yourself extra room for your action.
Don’t let four-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicles give you a false sense of security. They only provide extra traction when accelerating. They do not provide an advantage when braking or cornering.
Inspect your vehicle tires and make sure they are in good shape by checking the tire pressure, tread depth and for uneven tread wear. Remember, the only thing between your vehicle and the road is your tires.
This week’s Safety Tip on telephone numbers is back by popular demand
Please dial 911 on your telephone if you have any emergency.
If you have a need for the Fairfield Glade Public Safety Department to respond to a call and it is not an emergency, we ask that you call the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department Central Dispatch Office at 484-6176. The Cumberland County Central Dispatch Office will assign a tracking number to the call and dispatch Fairfield Glade Public Safety Officers to the call.
If you need to talk to a Fairfield Glade Public Safety Officer, the correct telephone number to use for Fairfield Glade Public Safety is 484-3785 (Fairfield Glade Public Safety Officers can be reached anytime by calling 484-3785.). However, if you have an emergency you will need to call 911.
The correct telephone number to use for the Tennessee Highway Patrol Driver Testing Station in Crossville is 484-1360.
Remember: Think SAFETY, and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately.
