Cumberland County Community Band announces start of 2009 performance season
The Cumberland County Community Band is pleased to announce the first concert of the 2009 season. Our annual Spring Concert will be held on March 24th at Stone Memorial High School beginning at 7:30 pm. We are happy to again have as our conductor, Mr. Lance Kennedy who, with the assistance of Mr. Joshua Squire, Associate Conductor, will direct the band in a program chosen with our audience in mind. Included will be folk tunes, a Beatles medley, some light classical and a march or two. Plan to attend this free concert.
The band is also happy to announce that we are again privileged to perform at the Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home celebration at the Cumberland Complex (Fairgrounds) . On Saturday, March 28th, we will entertain with a selection of patriotic and other appropriate tunes in front of the grandstand, scheduled to begin at 11:00 am. Come out and enjoy the music and help show your support for a great group of veterans.
The band also is announcing that it has been invited to perform at the second annual Community Band Festival in Nashville, Tennessee. Community bands from Bartlett, Nashville, Vanderbilt, Robertson County, Williamson County, and Cumberland County will perform. This event will be held on Saturday, April 4th beginning at 10:00 am at Hillwood High School in Nashville (400 Davidson Rd). The festival is open to the public and there is no charge. The Cumberland County Community Band is scheduled to perform at 1:00 pm and is proud to represent Crossville and our county at this event.
