Monty Brown is a familiar Fairfield Glade Lions Club Travelogue presenter to the Crossville audience.
His latest adventure will take you on a trip to “England’s West Country” and it will all begin Monday, March 4 at the Palace Theater starting at 7 P.M.
Tickets are available at the door for $7 per person.
Most visitors to England begin their trip at London and proceed to a few scattered destinations like York, Stonehenge, The Lake District and others.
However, in this “West Country” film you will begin at Bath and travel (Westward Ho!) from there.
You will visit the legendary lands of King Arthur and his castle at Tintagel. The fictional Wessex of Thomas Hardy and the country home of mystery writer Agatha Christie are also on the schedule. You won’t stop until you reach Lands End (a real place just like Westward Ho)!
There is magnificent scenery along the way: two national parks (Dartmoor and Exmoor), wild rocky coastlines, and a walking path that envelops the whole region. The path is over 600 miles long and follows the coast along Bristol Channel and the English Channel.
The West Country is made up of four diverse and fascinating counties: Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall.
The film also includes visits to Wells, Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge, the Dartmoor and Somerset Folk Festivals and a glimpses into England’s colorful history. The sound track will feature the music of local West Country musicians.
Only one more Travelogue remains on the 2012-13 Travel & Adventure Series. It will be held on Monday, April 1, and explore “Majestic Montana.”
The Fairfield Glade Lions Club has sponsored the Travelogue Series for over 30 years. It has featured colorful places from around the world for you to enjoy in the comfort of the Palace Theater.
The Lions express their grateful thanks to all who have supported the series. Plans are already underway for next year’s series.
