The Fairfield Glade Clinic of Cookeville Regional Medical Center has been serving the area for more than six months and has grown in numbers of patients and specialists.
“We appreciate the support of the Fairfield Glade community since our opening,” said Leta Collins, ACNP, BC.
Leta has been the primary care provider in the clinic since September and offers medical care to people of the area above age 13.
“We are seeing more and more patients everyday for primary care services as well as minor illness and injuries,” Collins said. “The specialists who visit the clinic have received a great response and book a full schedule when coming to the clinic.”
Collins comes to the area with over 30 years nursing experience with the last 12 years in advanced practice after completing Vanderbilt University’s Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program. She is accepting new patients and is available Monday through Friday from 8 A.M. to 4 P.M.
The Fairfield Glade Clinic is a primary/specialty care clinic that accepts urgent care walk in patients; however, the clinic encourages patients to call for an appointment to decrease wait time. The clinic accepts the last walk-in at 3:30 P.M. daily.
To better serve the patients, the clinic offers laboratory and x-ray services; however, these services must be ordered by a clinic provider.
In addition, specialty physicians from Cookeville Regional Medical Center routinely visit the clinic on certain days of the week. By providing office hours in Fairfield Glade on a regular basis, patients have the convenience of seeing the specialists in the Fairfield Glade area instead of traveling to Cookeville.
The specialists maintain their business operations in the Cookeville offices. While they see patients at the Fairfield Glade clinic, their offices in Cookeville make appointments, schedule tests and respond to medication refills and billing questions.
“The common misconception is that our clinic is able to respond to specific questions that patients have about their care received from the specialists,” said Trena Cole, office manager at the Fairfield Glade Clinic.
“We want our customers to understand that we want to assist them in every way possible but the specialists maintain their offices in Cookeville and simply use our clinic space to see their patients.
“Here at the clinic we do not have the same computer-based electronic medical record as the specialists,” Cole continued. “Because each provider sharing office space maintains their own medical records patients may need to complete separate forms for each provider.”
For example, if a patient is referred to a specialist by their primary care provider, the appointment for the Fairfield glade location would be scheduled through the specialist’s Cookeville office.
If the patient is being seen by a specialist at the clinic and needs prescription refills, tests scheduled or has billing questions, the patient should contact the specialist’s office in Cookeville.
The Fairfield Glade clinic handles appointments, prescriptions refills, testing and billing questions only for the primary care nurse practitioner services.
Specialists available in the clinic include cardiologists, orthopedic surgeons, a nephrologist ,a diabetes specialist, a urologist , and a general / vascular surgeon along with other specialists in the future.
