Fairfield Glade Fire Department in need of firefighters
By HOWARD ROBB
Glade Fire Chief
For The Vista
The first volunteer fire department was organized in Philadelphia by Benjamin Franklin, in 1736.
Now because of his vision, 275 years later, volunteer firefighters are still responding to fires and other emergencies nationally.
We are looking for volunteers who are willing to make a commitment to our community.
The Fairfield Glade Fire Department has openings for new firefighters experienced, or those with no experience.
We train all new firefighters at our own training center here on site.
We have a two story 1,600 sq ft container and a class A live fire burn container that we use for training.
These training buildings meet all the requirements of the NFPA and the Tennessee Fire commission.
Plus we use the Tennessee Fire Academy in Bell Buckle TN for specialized training.
We are also starting a first responder group trained by Cumberland County’s EMS.
This will result in much faster response times in our own community.
There are some benefits with joining and become a volunteer in our wonderful community.
