Fairfield Glade man named president of Imagination Library

The Cumberland County Imagination Library’s annual meeting was held on Monday, Jan. 21 at Art Circle Library and elected the following officers:
Jim Oswald, President; Howard Hickerson, Vice-President; Teva Rainey, Secretary and James Houston, Treasurer.
Other members of the Board of Directors include: Jackie Hall, Judy Hickerson, Deanna Magdich, Leonard K. Stark and J. B. Straub. Elected as Advisory Members are: Sherrie Cox; Lachricia Hunt, Ron Likens; Jeani Miller; Susie Randelman; Clayta Richards; Julie Shanks; Cathy Simpson; Penny Symington, Kristen Tabor and James Thompson.
The new president, Jim Oswald, received a BS in International Affairs and General Engineering from the US Air Force Academy in 1980 receiving the Outstanding Graduate Award. He spent six years in the service retiring as a military officer.
He obtained his MS in Business Administration graduating from Central Michigan University in 1985 as an Honors Graduate. Currently he is a Business Executive and Sales Leader with experience in leading consulting firms, corporate business units and public sector organizations. He and his wife Julie live in Fairfield Glade where she is employed by the Good Samaritan Society.
Since its inception in June of 2005, a total of 131,412 books have been distributed to children from birth to five year of age currently representing 61% of all legible children in Cumberland County.
This program is sponsored by the Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation and the Dollywood Foundation originated by Dolly Parton.
For 2013 the Board of Directors has stressed emphasis on reaching a higher percent of County Children to be included in its program by providing more visibility in area events and various local outlets where eligible children frequent.
