On Sunday, May 5 at 3 p.m., the Festival Chorale of Fairfield Glade will present Bradley Ellingboe’s “Requiem” directed by Brian Bacon. The performance will take place at the First Baptist Church of Fairfield (located behind Food City on the hill). The chorale will be joined by the Roane State Community College Concert Choir and accompanied by a small Chamber Orchestra. The beautiful choral work will also feature soprano Susan Jay. This concert will be free and open to the public.
Director, Brian Bacon, is a featured guest conductor of the Annual Choral Concert Series in Carnegie Hall (New York City) produced by MidAmerica Productions. This is Mr. Bacon’s sixth trip to the famous stage, but first as the conductor. He will raise his baton to conduct the 30-piece New England Symphonic Ensemble, plus a 200 voiced choir that is combining from choirs throughout the United States which will include the Festival Chorale of Fairfield Glade and Roane State Community College Concert Choir.
Brian J. Bacon, Jr. is the Director of Music Ministries at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, Conductor/Music Director of the Cumberland County Community Band, and a private voice instructor. Mr. Bacon is currently a graduate student at Liberty University completing a Master of Arts in Music and Worship. His undergraduate studies include Roane State Community College (Harriman, TN), where he received the Outstanding Musician Award and conducted the Roane State Chamber Choir; and Maryville College (Maryville, TN), where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Music. Just recently, Mr. Bacon was awarded the 2013 Roane State Community College Music Department Outstanding Alumni Award at a special Alumni Concert presented on Saturday, April 6 in Harriman, Tennessee.
