For The Vista

If you’re looking for an easy dessert that is as pretty as it is tasty, try this trifle. I made it for an open house last week, and nary a crumb was left! To display the trifle at its best, make sure you put it in a glass bowl, so your guests can see all the beautiful—and yummy—layers!

Toffee Brownie Trifle

1 pkg. fudge brownie mix

2 1⁄2 c. cold milk

1 pkg. (3.4 oz) instant cheesecake or vanilla pudding mix

1 pkg. (3.3 oz) instant white chocolate pudding mix

1 carton (8 oz) Cool Whip, thawed

3 Heath candy bars (1.4 oz ea), chopped

Prepare & bake brownies according to package directions for cake-like brownies, using a greased 13x9x2” pan. Cool completely on wire rack.

In a large bowl, beat milk & pudding mixes on low speed for 2 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes, or until soft-set. Fold in Cool Whip. Cut brownies into 1” cubes; place 1⁄2 in trifle bowl. Cover with 1⁄2 of pudding. Repeat layers. Sprinkle with chopped candy bars.

Yield: 16 servings.
