Volunteer Coin Club to Meet September  9

The Volunteer Coin Club of Crossville will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday, September  9 at 6:30 P.M.

The meetings are held at the 127 Senior Center located at 1460 South Main Street (Highway 127 South).  Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month.  Visitors and guests are welcome.  Contact Mike Puhl (456-0397) or Franc Conner (337-1247) for information.

 

Plateau Corvette Club sets meeting Sept. 4

The Plateau Corvette Club invites all area Corvette owners to its monthly meeting held on the first Thursday of the month at 5:30 P.M.

The meeting location is at the Crossville Outlet Mall at 228 Interstate Drive.  The meeting room is on the north side of the outlet.

Join them and meet new people as events are planned that all Corvette owners can enjoy.

Model Railroad Club Shortens Hours 

The Crossville Model Railroad Club will be operating reduced hours the week of August 17th to allow for refurbishment of their suite in the Crossville Outlet Center.

The model railroad display will close an hour early on Sunday, August 17 at 4 P.M.  to allow for the start of work.

The display will remain closed Monday August 18th and Tuesday August 19th and reopen Wednesday August 20th.

The Crossville Model Railroad Club operates more than 4,500 square feet of model trains in all scales and is open free to the public.

Normal operating hours are Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 5 PM and Saturday from 10 Am to 5 P.M.

Plateau Photography Club Meeting slated

The Club will meet this month on Thursday, August 28th at 1 P.M. at the Fairfield Glade Community Church.

Members will bring images of “Reflections” to show and discuss.  The Club is a special interest group of the Plateau PC Users Group.

Visitors and prospective new members are always welcome.

Parade of Homes set 

“A Showcase of Newly Constructed and Remodeled Houses” will be presented on August 23-24,  in Cookeville.

Hours for the event are   Saturday 10 A.M. to 5 P.M.  and Sunday noon to 4 P.M.

Presented by the Home Builders Association of the Upper Cumberland.

Ticket Price:  $3 in advance or $5 day of event.

Cumberland County Democrats to Meet

The Cumberland County Democratic Party will have their monthly meeting, Monday, August 25.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 P.M. at the Crossville Housing Authority, 67 Irwin Avenue. All area Democrats are encouraged to attend.

 

Caregiver Support Group

On August 19 , the Upper Cumberland Development District / Area Agency on Aging and Disability (AAAD) will hold its caregiver support groupmeeting.

The meeting will be held at the Crossville Good Samaritans’ (281 10th Street, Crossville TN 38555) from 1 to 2 P.M..

Fairfield Glade Treasure Hunt set for Sept. 5

The 2014 Fairfield Glade Treasure Hunt is set for Friday, SEPT. 5TH. Have a fun evening solving puzzles and figuring out clues. The Hunt is limited to 20 cars with 4 people per car. Call information below on what to bring.

Senior Olympic Entry Forms available

The 2014 TN Senior Upper Cumberland District entry forms are now available.

Deadline to enter is August 25 in ordered to participate in the games which will be held in our district Sept. 8-19 .

Bible Study planned

A new women’s Bible study will be starting on September 3 from 10 to 11:30 A.M. in the Fellowship Hall of Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church.

This will be a 12-week study on the book of Romans. This study is open to any woman, regardless of church membership, so come and join them as they discuss all the vital topics the Apostle Paul addresses in this very important New Testament book.

Homesteads Apple Festival Crafts Show Applications Available

Homesteads Apple Festival in Crossville, TN is now taking applications for artists and craftsmen for the Sept. 27 and 28, 2014 Homesteads Apple Festival Crafts Show.

Spaces are 12 ft. X 12 ft. and cost $50.

Applications can be downloaded athttp://cumberlandhomesteads.org/applefest.html  or can be requested by calling 931-456-9663.

Show is limited to only artists and craftsmen who handcraft their merchandise.  Application must be received before deadline of August 29.

 

The FOL “Bling Sale,” Cool Thoughts for a Warm August

The FOL Bling Sale will not happen until Saturday, December 13.

However, now is a great time to consider clearing your jewelry box of long unworn, unappealing, “I definitely need some new kind of jewelry!”

Also, if you have sold jewelry at a garage sale and have leftovers; think of donating the remainder to the FOL Bling Sale.

Drop off your donations at the Fairfield Glade Village Mall across from Kroger or at the Library in downtown Crossville.

Your donations are greatly appreciated and will help fund books and needed improvements to our Cumberland County Art Circle Library. Let’s all keep it one of the best libraries in Tennessee.

 

One Step Beyond’s August Luncheon set

One Step Beyond’s August luncheon will be Thursday August 21, at noon, at Fairfield Glade’s Legends restaurant.

One Step Beyond offers a warm and friendly get-together for senior singles who are widowed and/or divorced.

The club meets every other month at a different restaurant where we gather for lunch and good company.

Mark your calendar and plan to join them at Legends, Fairfield Glade this month.

 

Marathon Pinochle set

Want to meet new people, old friends, and enjoy playing pinochle? Now is the time to enroll for the 2014-2015 season. Play begins in early September and ends next May.

They play single deck with the opening bid of 16, dealer gets stuck at 15.

Games are scheduled monthly (but can be played at any mutually convenient date for you and your opponent).

Each team plays nine games, which are alternately at your or your opponent’s homes.

Cost per season is $11per person, $22 per couple which covers prizes and club expenses. Prizes sre awarded at a catered luncheon in June.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday June 13.,2015. Details will be provided at a later date.

Apply for Ms. Senior County Pageant 

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2014.  Ms. Senior Cumberland County  “Age of Elegance” Pageant.

This year’s ladies will be judged on Philosophy of Life, Evening Gown, Interview, and Community Involvement.

Wednesday August 27, 2014.  Applications are currently available at the Fair Park Senior Center, located at 1433 Livingston.

The contest is held during Senior Day at the Fair.

 

Pioneer Day announces Entertainment Sign Up

The 30th Annual Pioneer Day is looking for Musical singers and groups for this year’s outdoor stages.

Country, Bluegrass, R&B and Gospel, there are few spots still open.  The event will be held on Saturday Sept. 13th.
