Korean Vets call special meeting

The KWVA Christmas Party last week was a special celebration with Cumberland County School Superintendent Janet Graham speaking to the group about what is going on in “her world”, and everybody participating in winning a door prize “Thanks” to Cmdr Gene and his wife, Phyliss.

Now Cmdr Gene has called a special meeting for Wednesday, December 13.  This meeting will start at the  normal hour of 1 P.M. at the Fairfield Glade Community & Conference on Stonehenge Drive in Fairfield Glade.

The  crux of this meeting is to discuss ideas for the Korean War Veterans Memorial the Cmdr is proposing  at Veterans Park in downtown Crossville.  Cmdr Gene is hoping to settle on this idea and proceed to have the Memorial in place by summer 2018!!!

Annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Christmas Eve for some folks is a time for last minute gift wrapping, cooking and other details, while other like to make time to attend a church service and concentrate on the true meaning of Christmas.

If you are one of this second group, we at Fellowship Baptist Church, 12 Westminster Court, Fairfield Glade, invite you to join us on Sunday, December 24 at 6 P.M. (CT) for our annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service.

You will be welcomed and you will be blessed, as our choir shares some of their music from this year’s Christmas Cantata, our pastor brings a message about our blessed Savior and we all join in singing some of our favorite Christmas Carols, before ending the service with the lighting of the Christmas Candles.

Korean Vets to meet

The Plateau Chapter #297, Korean War Veterans Association, reminds all members and possible guests that their annual Christmas Party is fast approaching and will be held Wednesday, December 6 & 12 Noon, at the Legends Dining Room in Fairfield Glade.

The menu consists of a beef or chicken luncheon at a cost of $17 per plate, which includes tax & tip.

Janet Graham, Supt of Cumberland County Schools will be our guest speaker with a presentation of what is happening with our young people and how we are adressing the situation.

Reservations are open until December 1 and should be confirmed and paid for by contacting Jim Morris at 931-456-5360.  Family and guests are always welcome to this event and should be sponsored by the member bringing them.

Volunteer Coin Club to Meet December 12

The Volunteer Coin Club of Crossville will hold their regular  meeting on  Tuesday,  at 6:30 pm December 12.

The meetings are held at the 127 Senior Center located at 1460 South Main Street (Highway 127 South).  Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month.

Photo editing workshop

The photo workshop group will meet Thursday, December 14, at 1 P.M. for their regular monthly meeting at the Fairfield Glade Library, Lower Level Room C.

This month, the members will be asked to present before and after Fall or seasonal pictures that they have edited.

Discussion will center on what they did to improve the picture and why they used those techniques.

They will also be tasked to use photo editing software to create some holiday pictures of their own.

Non-members are invited to attend for a $3 fee, which entitles you to attend not only the workshop, but also the PC users club and Photography October meetings.

Railroad Club Unveils Christmas Display

The Crossville Model Railroad Club is now decorated for the Christmas season and will have special extended hours in the days before the holiday.

A new Christmas Village has been built and special holiday trains are running. There are lights and a railroad themed tree along with other special features.

On Friday, December 22 and Saturday, September 23 the club will have special hours and events. The model trains will operate from noon to 7 P.M. on Friday and 11 A.M. to 7 P.M. on Saturday.

During this annual “Polar Express” celebration the film will be showing on the big screen during the hours the club is open with carpets down for on-floor seating for the children.

The club’s Wonderful World of Trains is in the Crossville Outlet Center next to Subway at the northern entrance. There are more than 4,000 square feet of operating model railroads in the scales of G, O, HO, N and Z. There is never an entrance fee as the club operated on the generous donations of those who love to watch the trains.  Regular hours are Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4 P.M. and Saturday from 11 to 4 P.M.

NARFE hosts event

Attention retired or active Federal Retirees:  The Annual Christmas Party and Luncheon for the Cumberland County Chapter 1719, National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), is close at hand.

You do not need to be a member of NARFE to attend – just come and join us.

Members and guests will meet at the Cumberland Mountain State Park Restaurant at noon on Tuesday, December 12, for lunch (self pay) and the annual Christmas celebration.

Bring your spouse or other guest and enjoy the festivities.  You’re sure to go home with a few holiday ‘not so valuable’ trinkets and a warm feeling with this first celebration of the season.

Salvation Army in need of bell ringers

Starting with Black Friday, November 24th, the Salvation Army is seeking “Bell Ringers” for their kettles in Cumberland County.

If you wish to “ring” in Crossville, phone 788-3414 to volunteer.

If you care to “ring” at Food City on Peavine Road, please phone 484-2503 to volunteer any of all Fridays and Saturdays  until Christmas. All “ringing” hours are scheduled in advance.

No meeting slated

Due to the holiday season the Plateau Corvette Club will not have a December meeting.

The January meeting will be held on Thursday January 11th, 2018 at the Crossville Outlet meeting room at 5:30 P.M.

The meetings will return to the regular schedule of the first Thursday of the month in February. Happy Holidays from the Plateau Corvette Club.

Christmas Cantata at Fellowship Baptist 

Fellowship Baptist Church, 12 Westminster Court, Fairfield Glade, invites you to join us for a choral presentation of “The Gift Goes On.”

The cantata will be presented on Friday, December 15 at 6 P.M. (CT) with refreshments afterwards in our Fellowship Hall, and again on Sunday, December 17 at our regular Sunday morning service at 10:30am.  Soloists will be Nicole Hardin and Leo Hyatt, and Roger Pfanstiel is the director.

This Cantata presents many of our best-loved traditional Christmas Carols to share the life-changing Gift and invitation offered by God in that lowly manger some 2000 years ago.  That Gift still goes on and on and on.

Admission is free and everyone in the area is welcome to come, relax and be blessed by a reminder of the real meaning of Christmas.

No Meeting this month

Residence Voice, a large group of Fairfield Glade property owners who are unified in having their ideas and concerns heard by their governing leadership, has suspended their monthly meetings until January 2018.

Beginning in January 2018, they will resume their monthly meeting.  Going forward they will held on the 3rd Thursday of every month at the library building at 1 P.M.

The first meeting for the new year is scheduled for January 18, 2018. Everyone is welcome.

Dance Club Inviting All

The New Generation Dance Club always welcomes new members and guests. We sponsor four dinner dances at the FG Community and Conference Center.  Events begin at 5:30 with a social hour. It is followed by dinner and dancing to a live band until 9 P.M.

Participants do not need to be a resident of  Fairfield Glade to join. We have members from all over the state and beyond. Our next dance is December 12.

Moonlighters celebrate

The Moonlighters’ Dance Club will be hosting a New Year’s Eve Dance Party at the Fairfield Glade Community & Conference Center.

The public is invited to join the group for a festive evening.  The party will be from 8:30 P.M. to 12:30 A.M.

The City Lites Band will be providing a variety of music for your dancing and listening pleasure.  You are asked to bring an appetizer and BYOB.  Ice, water, party favors and a midnight champagne toast will be provided.

All tables will seat eight.  Guest couples $50 per couple , Individuals $25.

CWC is Moving!

Come and join Women’s Connection on December 14th at their new address to kick off your Christmas Holiday Season.

The meeting will be held at the Carriage House Event Center on 24 Oak Road, Crossville.  The special feature will be “Sights and Sounds of the Season” and Carolyn Sofield of Seymour, TN will give a mini-drama, “Women of Christmas”.

Are you getting ready for the holidays? I’m sure you’re at least thinking about it. So we are here to help you not only with Christmas card-making, but with decorating and gift ideas. Framing + Art & Craft Supplies will be conducting some helpful holiday classes for October.

Senior Employment Program being offered

UCHRA would like to invite anyone 55 years or older who meets the eligibility guidelines to be a part of our Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP).

This program provides on-the-job training for older individuals seeking gainful employment in the Upper Cumberland region.

This training is twenty hours per week at the current minimum wage with government and non-profit agencies.

Charity needs fabric

Helping Hands Ministry, an all volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is in need of fabric (any kind and size), notions, knitting and crocheting yarn for babies, needlepoint and cross stitch supplies and kits.
