KWVA starts year with open meeting on January 11

On Wednesday, January 11, 1 p.m., at the Fairfield Glade Conference & Convention Center on Stonehenge Dr., the Plateau Chapter #297, Korean War Veterans Association will open the beginning of their regular monthly meeting to all WWII and Korean War Veterans.

This portion of the meeting will be devoted to an informative presentation dealing with “Honor Air Knoxville” and an all expense paid one day trip to visit Washington D.C from Knoxville.

Gus Gocella, a resident of Lake Tansi, who is the Cumberland County Representative for “Honor Air Knoxville” will make the presentation and be available for questions. He will also have application forms available for the 2012 season. Gocella also acts as a guardian on these trips and has been a guardian for about six of our members during 2011.

After the presentation, the Chapter will hold a short business meeting. For additional information or questions please feel free free to contact Commander Bob Johnston at 931-484-8798.

The Chapter asks that anybody attending please bring one or more containers of canned goods, which is subsequently donated to the Cumberland County Veterans Service Officer’s pantry for needy veterans.

 

Volunteer Coin Club to meet January 10

The Volunteer Coin Club of Crossville will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday, January 10 at 6:30 pm. The meetings are held at the 127 Senior Center located at 1460 South Main Street (Highway 127 South).  Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month. Visitors and guests are welcome.  Contact Mike Puhl (456-0397) or Franc Conner (337-1247) for information.

 

American Legion set to meet

The American Legion Post 163 will meet on Thursday January 5th. Dinner will be served at 6:00 pm with the meeting to follow. American Legion Post 163 meets the first Thursday of the month at the post located on South Main Street (Hwy 127 S) in Crossville.  Members are also reminded that 2012 dues need to be paid by the end of January to keep continuous membership years. Republican Women’s Club holding first meeting of 2012

The Cumberland County Republican Women’s Club will have their first meeting of 2012 on Thursday, January 5 at 5:00 PM at the Republican Headquarters. We will be discussing plans and events for the new year and voting on some important issues. Our membership dues should be paid at this time.

The groups says this is a very important meeting so bring a friend and get ready for a very busy political season — as 2012 is an election year and we will elect a President and representatives for the Senate and the House of Representatives.

 

Join in on the Tansi Dance Party

Everyone is most welcome to join the fun at the Tansi dance party to be held Jan. 6th at 7 p.m. at the Thunderbird Activity Center. Frank Byars will entertain for your dancing & listening pleasure.

Piecemakers Quilt Guild Business Meet January 4

The Cumberland County Piecemakers Quilt Guild will hold it’s monthly Business Meeting on Wednesday January 4th, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the 127 South Senior Center located on Hwy 127 South in Crossville. We have a wonderful Trunk Show and Lecture being presented by our own Award Winning Peggy Garwood whose passion is Appliqué.  Everyone is welcome. Call Wynnell Busch at (931)456-2676 for further information.

 

Corvette Club of Cumberland County meeting set for January 5

The Corvette Club of Cumberland County is having its third meeting on January  5th, 2012 at Dave Kirk’s Body Shop Lobby, across the street from the dealership, located on  N. Main Street, Crossville, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. The main agenda item for this meeting is the election of club officers. Our goal is to have fun with our vehicles, conduct driving tours/road rallies/events and hope to support and conduct a future fund raiser for a local charity. Tentative trips in the planning for next year are: a Spring Tennessee Waterfall tour and visit/tour the Bowling Green Assembly Plant & Corvette Museum. We encourage spouses of members to be involved.

Changing Life program meeting each Monday

Changing Life from the Inside Out meets every  Monday at The Multi-Purpose Bldg., 455 Lakeview Dr., from 9:00—10:00 a.m.

The group enjoy offering complimentary coffee, tea and muffins, along with printed hard copies of our current topics of discussion.

‘Tis the season to be jolly…’  But are we jolly?  The busy, multi-tasking urgency of the holiday season can make more demands on you and your time and can be exhausting.

Join them for personal support as we take this part of life’s journey together.

Stamp Club will be

holding meetings

The Upper Cumberland Stamp Club holds bi-weekly meetings at the Fair Park Senior Center at 11 a.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month.

The Senior Center is located at 1433 Livingston Rd. in Crossville, across from the County Fairgrounds.
