Kinseekers Meet On Thursday, July 6

On Thursday, July 6, the Kinseekers will discuss “How Do You spell That?”  The spelling of names/words often changes drastically over the years, and even varies in different areas of the world.

You don’t have to be involved in genealogy research,   plan to come the first time as our guest.

Kinseekers meets the first Thursday each month from 1 to 3 P.M., in the Fellowship Hall of the Fairfield Glade Community Church, 521 Snead Drive, FFG. Park in the sanctuary-side back parking lot and use that side door.

At our May meeting, guest speaker, Sherri Manker, shared information about several programs available for the study of DNA, and explained some of the pros and cons of each of them. She showed how DNA can help in doing family genealogy research.  DNA works best if several relatives; siblings or cousins for example, get tested and compare information.  One limitation of DNA is, it doesn’t provide names; only personal research does that.  Sherri gave us a lot of specific information about pursing DNA if we decide to go that route.
