Kinseekers to Discuss DNA at June 2 Meeting
The next Kinseekers of Fairfield Glade meeting will be on Thursday, June 2 from 1 to 3 P.M. in the Fellowship Hall at the Fairfield Glade Community Church, 521 Snead Drive. Park in the back and use the back/side entrance.
The speaker will be Edy Williams, a teacher in Overton County and a local expert on DNA; the cost, the procedure, what to expect and how to follow-up on the results. Even if you aren’t into genealogy, this is a fascinating and useful topic to explore. Everyone is welcome.
At our May 5 meeting, Darla Brock, an Archivist with 16 year’s experience with the Tennessee State Library and Archives, spoke on using the Tennessee Supreme Court Records in our genealogy research. She detailed the recent improvements to the State Archives building location, as well as which types of records and data are available for public viewing.
Also, during the meeting, our Program Planning Team passed out survey sheets for program ideas for next year and requested we fill them out and return them at the June meeting. Gene and Holly work hard to bring us interesting and relevant subjects each and every month, year after year; so please, complete your survey and bring it on June 2. Thanks.
Kinseekers meets the first Thursday each month, the membership dues are just $10 a year, there are no attendance requirements and you don’t have to be actively doing genealogy research to join. In fact, we suggest you attend the first time as our guest.

Hospice meeting set
The June monthly meeting of the Fairfield Glade Hospice Auxiliary will be held, Monday, June 6, at 2:30 P.M. at St. Francis of Assissi Catholic Church Hall. We will be discussing our Butterfly Release Fundraiser that is scheduled for Saturday, June 11.
All current and prospective members are encouraged to attend. Guests are especially welcome for the opportunity to learn more about the fund raising mission and work of the Hospice Auxiliary. All funds raised by these events support the ongoing operation of Cumberland House, a six bed, end of life facility, which accommodates all persons, without consideration of ability to pay.

Kayak Connection rolls on through summer
The kayak group started paddleing this month. Saturday, May 7 was just fantastic.The lakes are warming, fish are jumping, ducks are flying, eagles are diving.
They launch off from FFG lake docks on Saturdays at 8:30 am, sharp. Here is the lake schedule for the next few weeks:

Neighbors/Newcomers group to meet May 26
Neighbor’s and Newcomer’s of Cumberland County will have their last meeting of the season on May 26th.
This meeting will be at the Fairgrounds Community Center, 1391 Livingston St. Crossville.
Menu will be BBQ Chicken or Pork, Coleslaw, Potato Salad, Chips, Strawberry Shortcake and Beverages. As always Heart Smart Meals may be requested when making your reservation.
Program for this meeting will be distribution of checks to various organizations and installation of officers for 2016-2017.

Next Celtic Circle Gathering set June 7
The Celtic Circle has had a busy month so far and it isn’t over yet. There is still time to attend the Smoky Mountain Highland Games at Maryland College on Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22.
And, don’t miss the Medieval Faire being held in Harriman on Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22, and on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, May 28, 29, and 30; hours are 10 A.M. to 5 P.M.
What is being planned for June? Well, if you like taking short jaunts, say to Glasgow, Kentucky, mark your calendar now for Friday through Sunday, June 3 to 5, and attend the Highland Games and Celtic Festival at River Barren State Park.
Their June gathering will be an informal outdoor concert at Julianne’s house on Tuesday, June 7 starting at 6 P.M. and all Celtic Cousins are invited.

On Saturday, June 18th there will be an Ice Cream Social at the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Pavilion.

Glade Church to host Creation Classes
Do you have questions about Creation, such as: How long were Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden? Where is the Garden of Eden now? Who was Cain’s wife? Did Abraham and Job know each other? I could go on and on, Will these questions be answered in the Scientific and Biblical Creationism Course? We invite you to attend and find out.
Fellowship Baptist Church, 12 Westminster Court, Fairfield Glade, campus site for the ongoing Faith Bible Institute (college level) Bible program, is excited to offer this in-depth, three week Scientific and Biblical Creationism Elective Course. It will run from Monday June 13, through the end of the month with two weekly attendance options: Monday mornings from 9 A.M. to noon or Thursday evenings from 5 to 8 P.M.
A test will be offered the fourth week to earn points toward a diploma. (The details will be explained at a meeting to be held in the Fellowship Hall of Fellowship Baptist Church, at 6 P.M. on Thursday, May 12.).

The course is offered to all area adults. Church affiliation is not a requirement.

The completed application and money must be received at Fellowship Baptist, by noon on Sunday, May 15. Make checks payable to Fellowship Baptist Church.

Butterfly release slated by Glade Hospice
The Fairfield Glade Hospice Auxiliary will present its 5th Annual Hospice Benefit Celebration of Life Butterfly Release on Saturday, June 11, on the Courthouse Lawn in Crossville from 9: to 10 A.M.
The program will be an uplifting and joyful experience remembering those we have loved and lost.
The donation for the butterflies is $20 for one name to be remembered or $100 for six different names to be remembered.
They encourage you to attend our event, bring a lawn chair and wear brightly colored clothing. Those unable to attend may still reserve butterflies in the name of a family member or friend and these will also be released. Butterfly order forms are available at the Hospice Office at 30 E. Adams St., at area churches and businesses, or one can be e-mailed to your from Kay Moyer at [email protected].
The deadline for ordering butterflies is May 28, 2016.

Volunteer Coin Club to Meet June 14
The Volunteer Coin Club of Crossville will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 14 at 6:30 pm. The meetings are held at the 127 Senior Center located at 1460 South Main Street (Highway 127 South). Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month. Visitors and guests are welcome. The Cumberland County Republican Party’s Annual Reagan Day Dinner will be held Saturday, June 4 at 6:00 at the Cumberland County Community Complex. A ribeye steak dinner will be served with delicious sides and desserts. The keynote speaker this year will be Congressman Diane Black. CWC Hosting “A Teddy Bear Picnic”
Hey Ladies, do you like teddy bears? Do you have a favorite one from way-back-when? Maybe you have a collection of them piled on your bed or on display on shelves around your house…maybe you still sleep with one? There is just something so comforting and cuddly about them, isn’t there?
CWC is hosting “A Teddy Bear Picnic” on Thursday, June 16, at The Discovery Center, 5160 Peavine Road, Fairfield Glade, 38558, which is diagonally across the street from the stop light at Food City.
We invite all area ladies to attend. You’re welcome to bring your favorite Teddy or a picture of your Teddy Bear collection. In fact, if you have a Really Old Teddy Bear, bring it with you. We will give a very nice gift in recognition of the Oldest Teddy there.
The other part of our plan is a Picnic…an Indoor Picnic, which means no ants, flies, mosquitos or sand; instead, we’ll have air conditioning, comfortable chairs, tables to eat at and, best of all, we’re encouraged to wear casual, comfortable clothes.
Doors open and our ‘Social Hour’ runs from 11:00 to 11:30 (CST). The luncheon and program are from 11:30 to 1:00. Our June feature will be The Cumberland County Playhouse Performers and you know how great they are.
Our Inspirational Speaker will be Arlene Grimes from South Carolina. She just recently retired from Clemson University, and will share her thoughts on “When All Else Fails, Read The Directions!” Can anyone relate?

Stonecroft Women’s Connection (CWC) is a non-denominational organization where women of all ages and walks of life can meet for fellowship and encouragement. Church affiliation is not required. Our luncheons are held on the third Thursday of every other month; so for the rest of the year, they’ll be in August, October and December. Fellowship Baptist Presents “Strings of Praise Concert”
All area gospel music lovers are invited to join us on Saturday, June 4 at 6:00 (CST) as Fellowship Baptist Church, 12 Westminster Court, Fairfield Glade, presents our second annual Strings of Praise Concert. This free concert is being held in our church sanctuary.
Well known local musicians Bob Bourne, Mike Garret and Dick Walter will be joined by Butch Butler (professional steel guitarist) and Joe Wihitten (piano), both from Alabama.
We will be blessed with music from the following stringed insturments: a steel guitar, an acoustic guitar, a violin, an autoharp, a bass guitar, a mandolin, a psaltry and a piano.
