Dance Club wants you
The New Generation Dance Club is a dinner dance club that features a social hour starting at 5:30 with dinner served at 6:30 and dancing continuing until 9:30 P.M.
The club was started in 1990 to provide an evening of sociability, dancing, fellowship and expanded friendship. Their dances are held at the Fairfield Glade Community Conference Center four times per year in March, May, October and December, on the second Tuesday of these months. Dress is usually smart casual or dressy.
Dance committees, volunteers from the membership, plan the theme and menu, plus act as hosts and hostesses for a selected dance. Invitations with menu selections are mailed to the membership six weeks prior to each dance.
If you wish to sit with friends you can make table reservations. If you wish to make new friends you will be seated accordingly. Invitation responses are returned to the club Vice President along with your seating preference and a check to cover the cost of the dance and three course meal selections.
The annual membership dues are $35 per couple. Guests may attend a dance before considering membership to the dance club.
If you are new to this area, this is a great way to meet people. Or, if you are a longtime resident and looking for a nice evening out, plan to attend our next New Generation Dance Club event on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. Volunteers needed
The dog days of summer are here and memories and evidence of last winter’s ice storm are no longer as prominent.
Next year’s tax season seems a long way off, but planning has begun for the AARP Tax-Aide volunteer counselors.
The recent Supreme Court decision keeps the Affordable Healthcare Act in place and therefore, there could be tax consequences for some of our residents for the 2015 tax year. Tax-Aide services are not limited to seniors; we work with all individuals and families.
On-line self-study modules are also available from November through April. New volunteers have experienced counselors as training partners and begin their tax preparation work doing basic returns. You will never have to work alone – as part of the program, every tax return is quality reviewed before it is printed for the client.
If you would like to be involved, but aren’t sure if you want to prepare returns, volunteers are also needed to help with greeting clients and organizing the paperwork. For more information about the program or to become part of the team that provides this valuable service, call Ginny at 456-4212.
