Everyone has heard that old phrase about getting your ducks in a row. Well, in the photo above, these four geese are in perfect line formation as they swam along at Lake Catherine last week. That old expression refers to a person who is very organized — he has his ducks in a row. But why do ducks and geese swim in a line, some may wonder? Instead of ducking the question or saying something fowl, the simple answer is that geese walk and swim in a single file is to reduce the wind resistance and drag. If you already knew that then that’s a feather in your cap.
