The Fairfield Glade Hikers plan two easy hikes this Friday, Sept. 25th. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to join us.
The hikes are not only local, but both are on the Marathon Hike list.
The first hike will be at Black Mountain. This 2.5 mile trail winds past the remains of an old homestead, large rock formations and culminates at an overlook of Grassy Cove Then we take a short drive to Renegade Mountain. This 1.9 mile trail is grassy and wide. We’ll hike some undeveloped roads that will provide the opportunity to explore the area. .
There are no bathroom facilities at either of these hikes. We recommend you bring a snack and plenty of water. Hiking footwear and poles are recommended. Anyone interested in hiking is welcome.
Hikers will meet in the pavilion by the parking lot near the 4-way stop at the intersection of Peavine Road and Stonehenge Drive between 7:30 and 7:45 A.M.
Carpools will be formed and information about the hike will be distributed. Departure to the trailhead will be promptly at 8 A.M. Reimbursement fee for drivers for this hike is $2. We expect to return to the Glade by 1 P.M.
Hiking has risks and safety is a high priority on every outing. Please assess your level of fitness to the difficulty of the hike so that you can keep up with the group.
A signup sheet for the hike will be posted in the Village Mall on the bulletin board across from the post office the week of the hike.
This information is useful to ensure sufficient copies of materials or for contacting hikers if there is a change in the hike.
