September 3rd marks the beginning of an exciting new year at the FFG Ladies Club. Sandy Warner, our new president, will take over from former president Viva Bosland, who did an outstanding job over the past two years.
Doors open at 10 A.M at the Community and Conference Center and memb.ers should take their seats by 11 AM for the business meeting. Following the meeting, lunch will be served at 11:30 A.M.
This month, the luncheon will include two meal choices: our regular menu selection of harvest salad with chicken strips or a heart healthy salad. A sweet surprise will be served for dessert. As always, there will be coffee carafes, iced tea and pitchers of water on the tables. The price for the meal is $13.
This month’s program will feature speaker Krissy DeAlejandro, the Executive Director of a scholarship and mentoring program called tnAchieves. Working together, the new TN Promise and tnAchieves will provide the cost of tuition needed to send college attendees to community or technical colleges for two years.
The success of tnAchieves is based on volunteer mentors assisting students from families that are challenged when it comes to finding out what educational opportunities are available to them. As members of the Ladies Club, we are provided with a unique opportunity to help students achieve success and improve their circumstances.
Come join them and hear how you can help. You might just change someone’s life for the better.
The service project of the month of Sept 2014 benefits CHILDREN OF CUMBERLAND COUNTY (feel free to contribute school supplies for all ages). Our ongoing every month project includes toiletry items (travel size) Box tops for education and Campbell soup labels.
Our first major fundraising event will be the Book, Bake and Bargainza Sale on 10/10 and 10/11. Ladies Club members are reminded that there is a book donation box located across from Krogers in the Village Green Mall.
Please no dictionaries, encyclopedias or condensed books. Items to be donated for the Bargainza portion of the sale can be dropped off at storage unit #90 located behind Manny and Isabella’s and next to Dollar General right off Peavine Road.
Dates for dropping off donations are: 8/30, 9/6, 9/13, 9/20. 9/27 and 10/4 between the hours of 9 AM. and 12 noon. .
This is a great opportunity to do a little housecleaning and make a meaningful contribution to the Ladies Club at the same time. Let’s make this event the success that it always is.
Remember call-in day for the luncheon is Wednesday, Aug. 27th. To make your reservation, either call 931-200-6080 (please take note that this is a new phone number) between the hours of 8 and 10 A.M. only or email [email protected] any time, day or night before 10 A.M. on Wednesday, Aug. 27th with the names in your party.
Please include your telephone number and special lunch requests (e.g., heart healthy salad). A confirmation email will be sent.
Cancellations need to be made by Friday, Aug. 29th or you will be responsible for the price of your meal ($13). Payment for no-shows can be made by sending a check to the treasurer. For more information about all the Ladies Club has to offer, please visit our website at ffgladiesclub.org.
Annual dues must be paid no later than the September meeting to be included in the FFG Ladies Club Directory. Annual dues are $15.
