The Fairfield Glade Lions Club held their annual picnic meeting on recently.
They invited members of the volunteer fire department and their wives and family to be guests and be recognized and honored. Over 30 firemen attended including Chief Howard Robb. King Lion Carol Pontius presented a $500 check to Chief Robb and thanked all the firemen for keeping us safe.
In addition, 2nd Vice President Fred Mundt called on his 9 year old grandson, Freddy, to make a presentation. Freddy has been very impressed with the volunteer firemen for years and attended several of their Pancake Breakfasts. He also made friends with many of the firemen over the years. He wanted to do something special when he heard about the Lions picnic.
So, he went to the Fairfield Glade Craft Center and created a plaque of the International Fire Fighter Symbol. Freddy didn’t want to make a speech so he just presented the gift to Chief Robb. His thank you came with an invitation to stop by the fire station and go for a ride in the fire truck. There is probably a smile still on his face and memories that will last a lifetime.
