Glade Notes

GLADE NOTES

• Sagging bookshelves or boxes of books, games, puzzles, video/audio materials lingering in the back of that closet?  Consider donating some of those “extras” to the FFG Library.

Donations are the heart of the library.  They provide fresh inventory, replacements for well-worn and outdated items, second copies for sharing of popular authors, and duplicate copies for the donation shelves.

There is no charge to check out library materials, however if you wish to add to your own home library browse the $1 donation book shelves and 5/$1 paperback book shelf.   Did you know that the library each month participates in a mission to provide books to communities in two northern Tennessee counties lacking library services?  It’s all about sharing, and thanks to your donations the library is able to keep humming along.

In 2017, over 500 books were added to the library inventory and over 1000 books per month were checked out.

Two of the newest donations to the library:  A Civil War collection of books donated by the Civil War Round Table;  a first edition of FFG author Diane Berger’s new publication, Adele’s Secret.

Stop in and see what’s new!  (A reminder:  do you have a current registration card on file at the library?)

• The Fairfield Glade Lake’s Committee acts as an advisory group to the FGCC Board of Director’s on matters concerning the many lakes in our community.   Last year the FGCC Board of Directors approved an amendment to the Lakes Committee Charter to include two representatives on the Committee that are not lake residents.  This action was taken to give the FGCC community “at large” representation on this Committee.

If you are interested in applying for one of these positions, please pick up an application from the FGCC Administration Offices, fill it out completely, sign it and return it to this same office.  The application is also available on the Club’s website under Admin/Board/Committees.

If you need more information about serving on the Lake’s Committee, please contact Kris Schuehle at 931-456-7499.

The Community Club’s 50th Anniversary is coming up in 2020.  An ad hoc committee has been established to plan lots of fun activities and events throughout the 2020 year to celebrate this special occasion.
