For The Vista
At the Rotary District 6780 annual conference held April 12, 2014 in Chattanooga, Rotarian Geoff Fine received special recognition.
For the past three years Geoff served the District as Assistant District Governor. The role of an ADG is to assist and help guide Rotary Club Presidents to effectively lead their clubs and to achieve District goals while serving as the liaison between the clubs and the District Governor. District 6780 consists of 67 Rotary Clubs with over 3,600 members.
Geoff’s Rotary service began 32 years ago as a member of the Huber Heights Ohio Club where he attained the position of President in 1987-1988. Fifteen years ago he and Cathy, his wife of 22 years, relocated to Fairfield Glade.
He joined the Rotary Club of Fairfield Glade and served as President in 2006-2007.
Geoff is a Graduate of Western New England University, and spent his career in the United States Air Force Foreign Technology Division.
As a part of the job he served in Southeast Asia and reported the effectiveness of the North Vietnamese air defense systems to US Air Forces. He was awarded the Bronze Star for outstanding performance in a combat zone. Geoff and Cathy enjoy trips out West to visit their children, Karen and Mark, their two Grandchildren and are happily awaiting the arrival of a third Grandchild.
“Best parts (of the Rotary) are inducting new members, awarding Paul Harris Fellows, the induction of incoming Presidents and Directors, and working with Rotarians at the District level.”
