Glade safety summary
For The Vista
The safety of Fairfield Glade (FG) residents and guests depends on three professional groups located at the Public Safety and Fire Department building on Peavine Rd. (FGPS, CCEMS and FGFD) and one volunteer group of residents (FGNWC).
The following is a summary of how they work together for public safety.
FAIRFIELD GLADE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH COALITION (FGNWC) – Public Safety really starts with the residents of FG through the FGNWC. Residents who are involved with the FGNWC are the eyes and ears of our public safety professionals, helping them watch for suspicious activity while also helping their neighbors in need.
If you want to check if you are in an existing FGNWC group or are interested in forming one, please contact Membership Officer Cyd Riede at 456-2122.
FAIRFIELD GLADE PUBLIC SAFETY DEPT (FGPS) – Chief Mike Williams 484-3785
The FGPS is a department of the FG Community Club (FGCC), the homeowner’s association for FG, and employs a Chief, an administrative assistant, 14 State of Tennessee Commissioned Officers and a Community Service Officer that conducts home checks while residents are away on short or extended vacations. FG is committed to the safety and security of all residents and guests, currently providing 24 hour patrols within the community.
FGPS began in the early 1970’s as a security department and as the community began to grow, the security department transitioned into a law enforcement agency.
All FGPS Officers meet or exceed all requirements to be a State of Tennessee Police Officer and FGPS works in conjunction with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Crossville Police Department.
In an effort to continue education and training, FGPS Officers often take advantage of specialized training opportunities that outside organizations offer. FGPS prides itself on offering more than law enforcement services to the community; they also provide 24 hour assistance to residents in all matters, to include but not limited to, community watch programs, neighborhood watch involvement, community outreach and safety programs as well customer service oriented projects.
From traffic patrol to hosting resort guests’ children for “safety hour” each week in the summer, FGPS strives to provide a safe and wonderful experience for FG residents and guests.
Other community events include mobile shredding services, Car-Fit, Safety Day and a host of additional events throughout the year.
The Public Safety team truly believes it is an honor to service the community, residents and guests of Fairfield Glade.
Cumberland County Emergency Medical Service (CCEMS) – The EMS group is operated by Cumberland County. Their goal is to have an ambulance in FG 24/7 unless on a call outside of FG or transporting a FG resident or guest to a hospital.
The County also has an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) program with 4 trained volunteer EMR’s living in FG.
The EMR program is designed to provide some level of emergency care until the ambulance arrives. While the CCEMS isn’t affiliated with Cumberland Medical Center, they have a very close working relationship. The patient can determine where they would like to be transported.
FAIRFIELD GLADE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT (FGFD) – Chief Matt Dillman
Since its inception the FGFD has operated as an all-volunteer FD and a separate legal entity organized as a 501c3 organization (Public Charity). While the FGCC financially supports the operations of the FGFD, the FGFD relies on fundraisers and donations from individuals and organizations to purchase equipment each year costing more than $10,000.
The FGFD performs the following functions for the residents and guests of FG, as well as areas outside of FG.
• Fire Protection (structural & wild land)
• Vehicle accidents & extrication operations
• Trail Rescue and Medical
• Medical response (First Responders)
• Search & Rescue
• Water Rescue & Recovery
• Fire Prevention programs
• Public Awareness programs
