Stone Memorial High School senior Jacqueline Hamby has been named February “Student of the Month” by the Fairfield Glade Lions Club.
Jacqueline was selected to receive this honor by her Counselor, Lisa Dillard, because of her grades and school and outside interests.
Jacqueline’s school activities include Dance Team for four years, Leo Club in her freshman year, Beta Club in junior and senior years and the Tennis Team for the past three years.
Her other activities involve dancing at the Cumberland County Playhouse for the past ten years and a member of the Grassy Cove Methodist Church.
She loves to write poetry as a hobby, play tennis, swim and dance wherever and whenever possible. Jacqueline commented, “Dancing is the majority of my life.”
Hamby’s future plans and goals are to attend Middle Tennessee State University. She intends to major in Social Work and minor in Dance.
Jacqueline and her parents, Kathy and James Hamby, will be invited to attend a special “Student of the Month” Dinner meeting in May 2013. A
ll of the monthly honored students and their parents will be invited. The main purpose is to introduce them to the Lions Club and present each student with an engraved plaque with his/her name and the specific month they were honored.
“This is a special annual occasion our club members look forward to attend”, commented Lion Program Chairman, Bob Cover.
“We are very proud to play a part in these young students lives and make them feel special for their fine accomplishments.
It is also important to the Lions to honor the parents who have served as excellent examples for guiding the future of their children,” added Cover.
Membership in the Lions Club is opened to both men and women with a special membership rate for married couples. Dinner meetings are held at the Druid Hills Country Club.
The Lions offer many opportunities to serve our community and get to know some other residents of Fairfield Glade.
Please call Membership Chairman, Jerry McBride, 707-0438, and tell him you would like to attend a meeting.
Your first meeting will be as a guest of the Lions Club.
