It has become a point of irritation: No Directories here!

You ever feel the need to get something off your chest?
We all have our little pet-peeves.
For a waiter/waitress, it may be that customer who expects everything and then tips out of his penny jar.
For others it could be watching those movies where the background music is SO LOUD and the dialogue cannot be heard.
You get the point. We will do a column on Pet Peeves in the future. If you have one, email it to me at [email protected]
But here is my Peeve of the week. Actually, it has been going on for some time now.
I took over control of The Vista almost a year and a half ago. The former owner of The Vista, Jon Weaver, kept the side of his business that included the production and distribution of the Fairfield Glade Directory and the Medical Directory.
Jon has always been helpful in directing folks to me and The Vista office. He was great in the transition and is a super guy. This is not his fault.
But if ONE MORE PERSON STOPS IN OUR OFFICE ASKING FOR A GLADE DIRECTORY, I JUST MAY SCREAM (or type in ALL CAPS … same difference).
Last year, the same thing happened and we even put a notice on the front page of The Vista that our office is not the place to come for your directory. And then we supplied the proper place for folks to go to get one. Still, I cannot tell you how many folks came in looking for their personal Directory copy.
So, finally, we put up a sign on our office door explaining that, “Sorry, no directories here” and where to go get one.
Even still, some would walk up to the door, peer at the notice on said door, and then walk in and STILL ask for a Directory! It’s as if those words were not applying to them; that in some magical way the Directory would be inside, thus saving them a two-mile trip down Peavine Rd.
Wowzer!
And it’s not like this happened once or twice — it was a consistent pattern of blantant disregard for my sanity. It’s like people were scheming — “Hey, let’s go to The Vista office and ask for a Directory. You know it’s one of Keith’s pet peeves.”
Funny — that reminds me that some of our clients and some friends would, when they dropped by the office, ask jokingly, “Is this where I can get a Fairfield Glade Directory.” Yes, I would laugh. That’s funny stuff and all. Until the next Directory-seeking resident walked in and asked the same thing — but in serious tones.
I figured enough time has passed the folks NOW know where to go to get their Directory. But, the new Directories are available evidently because the rampage has renewed. We are in a new office since January — doesn’t matter — they found us. And they STILL think we have the Directory.
So we politely tell them where to go get one and 99% of the folks are appreciative and thank us and exit out the door.
But there’s always someone — like a ‘gentleman’ that came in and demanded his Directory and then, when told they are not here and where to go get one, grumbled and fuzzed as if we were withholding the truth from him. It’s as if he thought, back in our closet, we had a secret stash of Directories and we just wanted him to have to drive down the road a bit to get one.
Ok, so there it is — off my chest. Whew! Don’t I feel better!
Well, at least until the next Directory Stalker comes to our door …
EDITOR’S NOTE:
As you may have heard (see story above) we do NOT have the Fairfield Glade Directories. The Vista has not published the Directory for two years now.
The Directory is published by Tennessee Marketing, Inc., which is located in the old Vista office at 3056 Peavine Road. It is a few blocks past the Pirates Putt Putt Golf center.
Their phone number is (931) 484- 6342.
Please tell your friends that 3056 Peavine is where to go for The Directory, and NOT The Vista office.
Thanks!!
