Jim Williams first to finish 500 mile exercise incentive at CMC Wellness Complex
Fairfield Glade resident Jim Williams was the first to finish the virtual 500-mile distance in the ‘Travel Across Tennessee” exercise incentive program underway at the Cumberland Medical Center Wellness Complex at Fairfield Glade.
Kathy Waisane finished after Williams to come in second. Ramon Clark took third place honors. All participants, who reach the 500-mile mark within the specified time, will be entered into a drawing for a 32-inch flat screen television.
The program began Jan. 3 and will continue until Sunday, April 10.
Members “travel Tennessee” on their own, or accompany or compete with friends or a spouse.
Prizes are awarded to all participants who cross the 125, 250, and 375-mile mark. Participants are able to walk the indoor track, use treadmills, ellipticals, stepmills, and stationary bikes. They may also walk or run outside with a trainer, who has verified the distance of the route beforehand.
Trainers and other staff members document the exercise information of each participant and also have the contest rules on display.
A bright orange map of the state, mounted over the employee counter in the exercise room, tracks contestants in their quest to “go the distance”.
