Ladies Club to name scholarship after hard-working Biggs
For The Vista
Members of the Fairfield Glade Ladies Club work diligently to raise funds for scholarships for Cumberland County students so they can achieve their dreams.
It takes hard work and inspiration to do so. Therefore, who better, thought the Club, than Pam Biggs to name the Scholarship Award after?
“We want our scholarship fund to bear the name of one of our members, who repeatedly set forth goals for herself and met those goals with fortitude and dignity, despite horrendous odds against her achieving such goals,” the Ladies Club said in a statement.
“In spite of Pam’s battle against a terminal illness for the past five years, she consistently volunteered to serve. She has shown each of us what it means to be a team player. She has shown us, against insurmountable odds, that ‘it is all about how you choose to live and give.”
Because of that, the Club members approved the following proclamation:
“Whereas, Pam Biggs has been unique in contributing her talents to the Fairfield Glade Ladies Club Committees, leading to the success of Ladies Club events;
“Whereas, Pam Biggs has demonstrated teamwork to virtually every committee of the Fairfield Glade Ladies Club, often taking a leadership role;
“Whereas, Pam Biggs has embraced the committee work of the Fairfield Glade Ladies Club in spite of a terminal illness and shown each one of us fortitude and commitment;
“Whereas, Pam Biggs has embraced the work and the goals of the Fairfield Glade Ladies Club and has served as an inspiration to each life that she has touched;
“Resolved, that Pam Biggs, be honored for her spirit and teamwork.
“Resolved, that from this point forward, the Fairfield Glade Ladies Club Scholarship Awards will be known as the ‘Fairfield Glade Ladies Club Pam Biggs Scholarship Awards.’”
The Ladies Club knows that their scholarship funds are gratefully received but the members wanted to provide the recipients with something additional — inspiration — and naming it after Biggs should do just that.
