April 1st will conclude the Fairfield Glade Lions Club Travelogue and Adventure Series for the season. Speaker Steve Gonser will take you on a journey to “Majestic Montana” at the Palace Theater starting at 7 P.M.
Tickets are available at the door for $7 per person.
Montana is the fourth largest state in our union after Alaska, Texas and California. Its 147,000 square miles are still sparsely populated. Fewer than one million people live in the entire State. Cattle outnumber people three to one.
Within its boundaries are two national parks, 10 national forests, seven Indian reservations, more than 40 state parks, nearly a dozen wilderness areas, more than 15 national refuges, dozens of state-owned wildlife areas and several national monuments and historical sites.
Montana has been a traveler’s destination for centuries. Indian hunting parties came to Montana and returned to their villages with stories of a land full of buffalo and holy sites.
Today, people define Montana because they come from so many strains: immigrant farmers, sheepherders, Indians, miners, loggers, artists and ranchers. They are self-reliant, quick to see humor, with personalities so expansive that so few people really do fill the state.
Make plans now to join the journey to explore the majestic qualities that make Montana a special place. Find out why Montana is often referred to as the dinosaur country. Visit cities large and small.
Learn about ranching at the Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site. Participate in an Indian Powwow and experience Indian culture.
Trace the steps of the Lewis and Clark Expedition in Montana. Look for sapphires at the Spokane Bar Sapphire Mine. Investigate the myths, legends and reality of people who came west to help shape the future of this state.
Take a tour through the “Gems of Montana” by visiting Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. All of these and more await you as you travel through the Big Sky Country of MEJESTIC MONTANA.
This may be the final Travelogue of 2012-2013 but a new Series is being planned for 2013-2014 so watch for details in The Vista.
