Mt. LeConte Jug Band to perform at RHA

For The Vista
In the next to last program for the 2014 Season, RHA is presenting The Mt. LeConte Jug Band from Spring City, comprised of four “baby boomer” friends and neighbors who play their favorite Grassroots Americana on amplified acoustic guitars, bass and six string banjo.
They are an ever popular group who have played throughout the area, just completing a concert at the Museum of Appalachia’s Fall Homecoming in Norris on Oct. 10.
The Jug Band has played on the WDVX Blue Plate special, Half Moon Music Festival, TN Valley Theatre with Bill Landry of Heartland Series fame as well as sundry BBQ’s, Fairs and Festivals.
They appeared at the Cumberland Mountain State Park last Spring for the Lions District Convention and provided quite a fete for the Lions. Mark this on your calendar now and call in those reservations! You will be glad you did.
Menu for this meeting will feature pork loin with red onion demi sauce plus all the fixings. Our chef is doing a fine job and we thank him for his fine work.
Cost of the meal is $17 per person, which includes the tax and tip. Heart Smart meals are also available on request.
To make reservations call Carol Pontius at 484-3138 or email to [email protected] If you do not get a confirmation back, please try again, or call to be sure that your reservation was properly recorded.
It is possible that RHA has run its course after 40 years, as memberships are at a low ebb this year. They should elect officers for next year at this meeting but they need volunteers to step up for president, and two vice-presidents. If interest is truly waning, then perhaps it is time to shut it down.
This will be an item of business at this meeting, so if you are interested, be sure you are present – new and old members!
Dues are our only means of collecting money to bring you good programs and we think that this has been a pretty good year as to quality of programs. At the September meeting, Weslie Webster presented a wonderful program and there was only 90 people present! They should be having 125-150 present at every meeting. RHA is for you to have a great evening visiting with your neighbors, and enjoy a good meal and entertainment. They have worked diligently to provide that to you.
Invite your neighbors and help them get acquainted with the unusual opportunities we have here in Fairfield Glade.
You do not have to be a member to attend, as you can just pay a $6 entertainment fee plus your meal cost of $17.
If you attended earlier this year and paid $6, then you will only have to pay $6 this time and for the November meeting you will only have to pay for the meal.
For easier reference for the treasurer, we ask that whenever possible, please pay by check.
Note: Deadline for reservations and/or cancellations is Thursday, Oct. 23.
Featured at the final program of the year will be Ashley Krohn, Terri Utsey and Dennis Donald, all from the Curtain Call Theatre at the Outlet Mall. This, too, will be a wonderful program for all, set for Nov. 24 at The Legends.
If you have a group that you would like to sit with, please indicate that when making you reservations and they will do all possible to satisfy your requests.
