Construction of the new Wyndham Welcome Center is nearing completion.
According to a spokesperson for the company, bull dozing, hammering and the heavy construction should conclude May 27 or 28. Approximately 80 to 100 associates will move-in on the morning of May 30.
The new Welcome Center will essentially move from its current location across Mirror Lake to the Stonehenge Road entry. It will house resort check-in as well as sales professionals who market Wyndham vacation properties in Fairfield Glade.
Cost of the 14,523 square foot building was estimated at $3.5 million.
The building has been designed with a distinctive, graceful look that fits comfortably into the Fairfield Glade area. The building should enhance the sense of arrival to Fairfield Glade because visitors are greeted by a unique facility located in the center of the community.
This is also a place where residents and guests gather for events like the Mirror Lake Blast and Arts and Crafts Festivals.
Adding to the character is a proposed Hall of Fame containing artifacts and photos celebrating the historic past of Fairfield Glade. Residents will have the opportunity to contribute photos to “The Decade Wall” featuring photos or other artifact for display.
The single-story facility has several environmentally friendly components such as flooring made from recycled materials as well as energy conserving lighting. Operational efficiency and productivity for the Wyndham Welcome Center incorporate the latest technology and computer systems. Grand opening ceremonies are tentatively scheduled August 20 and 21.
