The ninth playing of the P.O.E.T.S. two-man Spring Invitational will be held on May 31st and June 1st at our Heatherhurst Golf Club.  As always the popular format for the event will consist of 9 holes scramble and 9 holes modified alternate shot on the Crag course on Friday and 9 holes best ball net and 9 holes both balls net on the Brae course on Saturday.  Defending champions from the Fall2012 Invitational are Joe Barth and Ron Guenther.  Complete details may be obtained by visiting any of the Fairfield Glade pro shops and picking up an entry form.  A valid and active U.S.G.A. Ghin handicap is required for all entrants.

Festivities start with the event check-in and putting contest beginning at 2 P.M. on Thursday, May 30th.  Approximately $500 in cash and prizes will be up for grabs as individuals display their putting skills on the Heatherhurst practice green attempting to qualify for the finals. Your entry fee for the Invitational includes entry into the putting contest. Finals for the putting contest will begin at approximately 4:30 p.m.  The finals will be followed immediately by the evening snack and “Rules and Information” meeting on the Heatherhurstpatio.  Limited liquid refreshments will be available all afternoon as all enjoy the “badgering” and camaraderie of fellow participants.

All teams will use the White tees.  First round of play is on the Crag course on Friday and consists of 9 holes scramble and 9 holes modified alternate shot.  The second round of play is on the Brae course on Saturday and consists of 9 holes better ball net and 9 holes both balls net.  All play is by flight based on handicaps and approximately 8 teams will be in each flight.  Entries will be limited to 72 teams.  Certainly, as in the past, the last 9 holes of play will probably “tell the tale” for teams competing for the top spots.
