P.O.E.T.S. conclude Spring Invitational

The P.O.E.T.S. GOLF CLUB concluded a most successful Spring Invitational over the past weekend with 72 two-man teams participating over the HeatherhurstCrag and Brae golf courses.
The Invitational was sponsored by Cumberland Eye Care and Happy Hound Realty and a good time was had by all.
Following are the lucky (or just plain good) winners of the competition(s). All flights competed over a total of 36 holes and a gross score of 180 was the par for the play. Net scores are listed.
Flight #1 – 1st, Joe Bissett and Steve Kehrer with 167, 2nd, Steve Jones and Sid Jones with 172, and 3rd, Jeff Heston and Lee Strickland with 173.
Flight #2 – 1st, Gary Molnar and Dick Stoner with 158, 2nd, Stan Courtney and Terry Levix with 161, and 3rd, Kermit Selvig and Dave St. Aubin with 165.
Flight #3 – 1st, Cal Smart and Steve White with 156, 2nd, Jeff Asher and Tom Laracey with 165, and 3rd Tom Guenther and Joe Barth with 167.
Flight #4 – 1st, John Lazur and Tom Cooney with 157, 2nd, Ken VanDyke and Jim Finley with 163, and 3rd, Gary Burleson and Dave McElroy with 163.
Flight #5 – 1st, Phil Walker and Jim Mulvaney with 166, 2nd Paul Davis and Mike Eelbode with 167, and 3rd, Rick Elliott and Dennis Robak with 167.
Flight #6 – 1st, Ron Phillips and Jim Phillips with 162, 2nd, Sam Edwards and Larry Spahr with 163 and 3rd, Keith Vollendorf and Mike Bonfield with 166.
Flight #7 – 1st, Fred Mundt and Dwight Lynn with 163, 2nd, Don Logan and Tom LaClair with 164 and 3rd, Dick Hampton and Ernie Hay with 167.
Flight #8 – 1st, Jerry McGuckin and Phil Young with 161, 2nd, John Dwyer and Larry Johnson with 164 and 3rd, Randy Ledbetter and Archie Bentz with 167.
Flight #9 – 1st, Bob Jasak and Carl Richter with 165, 2nd, Dave Bouque and Ron Priester with 166 and 3rd, Dave Trandel and Gary Thompson with 171.
The overall net score winners were the teams of Smart/White, Lazur/Cooney, and Molnar/Stoner and the overall gross score winners were the teams of Jeff Houston/Tayler Houston, Steve Kraft /Warren Huddleston, and Joe Bissett/Steve Kehrer.
Skins competition found the teams of Dan Boeh/Steve Coy and Jeff Houston/Tayler Houston winning gross skins and the teams of Chris JoyceChuck Northam and Boeh/Coy, and the individuals Larry Johnson, Pete Cahill, Phil Young, Carl Richter, and Gerry Tucker winning net skins.
Closest to the pin winners for the two days were: Larry Spahr, Tom Cooney (2), Chuck Northam, Paul Davis, Jeff Asher (2), Rick Farinella, and Ralph Morgan.
Thursday’s putting contest winner was Keith Vollendorf over Bob Jasak in a putt-off for first place followed by Dave St. Aubin, Mike Bonfield, Jim Colyn, Archie Bentz, Ernie Hay, Lee Strickland, Sam Edwards, and Dennis Robak. Competition was very intense so prepare yourself well for the Fall competition.
A fine cheeseburger/chips meal prepared by the ladies of the Heatherhurst snack bar with plenty of liquid refreshment was enjoy by many on Thursday evening following the putting contest and the rules and information meeting. Liquid refreshment was available for all to enjoy on both Friday and Saturday following completion of their golf round.
