For The Vista
Having just concluded a rousing comedian/magician show, The Fairfield Glade Resident Homeowners Association has another great show lined up for you in October featuring the Plateau Old-Time German Band.
This local oompah band is made up of members of our own Cumberland County Community Band, led by Pete Tiffany.
A group of 12 musicians, they play a variety of upbeat and foot tapping polkas and waltzes. In addition to their Oktoberfest style of music, the band also performs non-traditional tunes which show their Tennessee roots and feature the southern, Dixieland style of music.
Their type of music encourages audience participation, so be prepared to join in clapping, dancing and foot-tapping. You will not fall asleep during this show.
The band has performed at a number of local venues during 2013. These include the St. Jude Children’s Hospital benefit in Crossville, the Spirit Broadband Amphitheatre Concert series in Crossville, the Fair Park Senior Center, and for Pioneer Days at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds
For the FFG RHA, the band will play a sampling of tunes obtained directly from Germany and which are heard each year at the Munich Oktoberfest. In addition, the band will play a variety of the classic polkas and waltzes of German and other ethnicities. Also to be heard are some non-oompah band tunes that are just for fun.
This is the next to last show of the year for RHA, and we want to encourage all to join us at this Oct. 28th meeting for a combination of excellent Legends dining and traditional Oktoberfest music. Bringing the 2013 year to a close for RHA in November will be another showcase event featuring Jason Ross from the Playhouse, Ashley Krohn and Dennis Donald.
We particularly want to encourage residents who have never attended RHA meetings to join us for these final two shows. Non-members can attend by paying a $6 entertainment fee plus the meal cost of $17 per person which includes tax and tip. The menu for this meeting will be roasted pork loin w/carmalized red onion demi sauce, au gratin potatoes, vegetable medley, house salad and a chef’s sweet selecton.
RHA normally meets on the 4th Monday of each month, except for May and December. However, it will be discussed at the October meeting about going to seven programs per year instead of ten, meeting January-April and September-November. Another reason that we would invite as many as can to attend this October meeting. You will have a major say in this projected change!
Social Hour at Legends begins at 5 P.M. and Dinner is at 6 P.M. When emailing reservations, if you don’t get a confirmation back, send again, or call to make sure your reservation was properly recorded. Your participation is greatly appreciated. Deadline for reservations is Thursday, Oct. 24. Note that if you make a reservation and do not attend, you are responsible for payment of the cost of the meal as RHA must guarantee the number of reservations on Oct. 24.
When making your reservations, you can make up your own table of six or eight, or you can just reserve for yourself and we will get you seated with a good group. If you do have a group you would like to sit with, please indicate that when making your reservation.
Men are requested to wear jackets; ties are optional. Everyone is asked to wear a name badge to help everyone get acquainted. A Name Badge will be provided if you do not have one, or you will be able to buy a special RHA badge.
For easier reference for the treasurer, we ask that whenever possible, please write a check for your meals, or entertainment. RHA is strictly a social event featuring a good dinner and entertainment, and provides a great opportunity for you to meet and greet your neighbors.
