Sharron Eckert on Tennessee Crossroads
Cumberland County resident, Sharron Eckert, will be featured on a new segment of “Tennessee Crossroads” on public television. Eckert uses long leaf pine needles to create fiber fine craft items. She has been accepted into juried shows of TACA Tennessee Association of Craft Artists and the Foothills Craft Guild. Locally she is a member of CACE Cumberland Artisans for Creative Expression, the Art Guild at Fairfield Glade, the Crossville Arts Council, and the Oak Ridge Art Center.
Currently some of her works are on display at the Art Guild at Fairfield Glade, the Fragrant Mushroom Gallery in Sparta, and the Appalachian Center for Crafts in Smithville. Photographs of some of her works can be seen via the website www.artguildfairfieldglade.net, click on Featured Artists, click on name Sharron Eckert.
Eckert writes, “It is with some risk that I share this information. The risk is that I have not seen the final product. The cameras, lights, and microphones were used to tape during one entire day last May. The edited version will be about 20 minutes. I recall doing a lot of work before the cameras, giving credit to my master teacher and late-Uplands-resident Elisabeth McCutcheon, and answering a lot of questions that I didn’t think had anything to do with pine needles.”
