For The Vista
The Southern Stars Symphonic Brass have their 2013-14 Crossville Concert Series dates locked in and hope that you will join them in their sixth season of providing premium entertainment.
After their blockbuster fifth season last year, Artistic Director, Dwight Wages, has programmed a series of concerts that will live up to the typical audience reaction of “every concert is even better than the last.”
Purchase of season tickets by August 17 will qualify those patrons for the band’s EARLY BIRD reception which will be the following Saturday, August 24 at 2:30 P.M. at the Fairfield Glade Community church.
This reception will include refreshments and a drawing from those in attendance to win prizes, such as free season tickets, single concert tickets, guest artist back-stage passes, for example.
“We had nearly 300 loyal season ticket patrons who invested in support to the SSSB last year and this number has grown steadily over the five years we have been in existence. The financial viability and ability to continue to provide our outstanding entertainment, is greatly enhanced by our season ticket holders,” said Wages. “This season we have set a target of growing our season ticket base to 375…. so I encourage area residents and lovers of great music to take advantage of the bargain of purchasing season tickets.”
The Southern Stars season tickets, as well as individual concert tickets for the initial Sept. 7 concert will go on sale at the SSSB ticket outlets beginning on Monday, July 22.
Ticket sales outlets will be: First National Bank of TN locations in Crossville and Fairfield Glade, Cumberland Eye Care (Dr. Galloway) office in Fairfield Glade, Bed & Biscuit Kennel off Peavine Road, and at the box office and website of the Cumberland County Playhouse.
Ticket prices for this outstanding ensemble remain at $20 for Adults, and $5 for Students. Season tickets for the 3 Crossville concerts are available for $45, an outstanding value which carries a $15 savings off the single ticket cost for the 3 concerts.
Season tickets carry the benefit of ticket exchange for alternative concerts if the patron is unable to attend a subscription concert, in addition to seating in a reserved section.
Concerts this season are scheduled for Saturday, Sept.7 at 7 P.M., Sunday, Feb. 16 at 3 P.M., and Saturday, May 17 at 7 P.M.
All will be held at the beautiful 1,200 seat Stone Memorial High School auditorium.
The Fall concert has been themed “Brass Go Around the World” and will feature the best in music stylings from countries around the world.
The Winter concert carries the theme “March Madness” and if your spouse is a basketball fan, then let them believe that connection and bring him/her along!
For the rest of you, we will treat you to some of the best march selections in addition to other music styles.
For our Spring concert, we have chosen the theme “Classics & Jazz”. This concert will feature an exceptionally talented young guest artist, 12 year old Geoff Gallante who will amaze the audience with his trumpet/cornet/flugelhorn skills.
Geoff is from Washington, DC and is equally at home playing classic trumpet repretoire as well as having outstanding talent at jazz improvisation. He has performed on Jay Leno, NBC and CBS Today shows, Kennedy Center, the White House, in addition with numerous concert bands across the U.S.
