The Fairfield Glade Volunteer Fire Department’s acquisition team of four members went on an inspection trip to Houma Louisiana to the Fire Apparatus company called “5 Alarm Apparatus” to inspect a refurbished 2010 two-door cab, 1,000 gallon pumper which will meet the Glade’s fire protection needs.
“We finalized the purchase and drove the apparatus home to Fairfield,” Fairfield Glade Fire Chief Howard Robb noted.” We now have a replacement for engine # 5.”
Robb said many should be thanked for the replacement.
“I would like to give special thanks to a member of our community for his help in locating this 2010 International pumper,” he said. “Our sincere thanks to Mr. Bruce Jodarski, owner of Best Trucks of Tennessee located at 3996 Peavine Road.
“Our appreciation to David Daigle owner of “ 5 Alarm Apparatus”, and his workers for their professional job of refurbishing our new pumper,” Robb continued. “They worked with us on a deal we could not refuse, and one that would meet our budget.”
But Robb went on to point out that special thanks goes out to all the support “we received from our Board of Directors, our residents and time share owners, who helped us to raise more money than we originally intended. With those funds we now have a “like new” engine that should last us to 2050 and maybe longer.”
The Fire Department will have the engine at its first Pancake breakfast on May 12.
“I hope to see you all there so you can see this wonderful addition to our Fire Department,” Robb said. “You should all be proud of this equipment, and I’d like to thank you all in person.”
