Veterans Day Ceremonies set

The Cumberland County Veterans Council will sponsor a Veterans Day ceremony Saturday, November 10 at the Cumberland County Veterans Memorial Park on Main St. The ceremony will begin at 11 A.M.
The Cumberland County Community Band will provide patriotic music from 10:30 to 11 A.M. at the park. Main Street from 2nd Street to 4th Street will be closed during the ceremony, so please consider arriving early. Some seating will be available, but those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
Patriotic songs will be performed, colors will be posted, and the program will include special guests and a keynote speaker. All military services and local Veteran organizations will be recognized.
The Community Band and Community Chorus will also present a joint concert of patriotic melodies at 7 P.M. Thursday, Nov. 8 at Stone Memorial High School.
The concert is free, but donations received will benefit the Disabled American Veterans Post 32 in Crossville.
Brown Elementary School on Dunbar Road will hold a special ceremony to honor veterans at 8:30 A.M. Friday, November 9. All veterans and their families are cordially invited to attend.
The Crab Orchard Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will present a USO show featuring many local performers and entertainers Sunday, November 11 at 2 and 6 P.M. at the Palace Theater.

Area veterans will be among those receiving support from the shows’ proceeds.
Organizers of the various events remind everyone that the heroic men and women who have represented the United States during several wars, including those who are currently in harm’s way, deserve to be remembered and honored at this special time of year.
