Well, this is a rare sight! Bob and Jean looked out on their deck recently on Pamala Lane in Fairfield Glade and saw this white squirrel. White squirrels are quite rare, though some towns — including Kenton, TN — have a fairly substantial population of them. In fact, five towns in the U.S. claim to be the “Home of the White Squirrel.” In any case, they are almost always a white version of the eastern grey squirrel. There are a few types of genetic aberrations that cause the white coats. The first is albinism, caused by a mutation on a gene that codes for pigmentation.
