Winningham serving his hometown

For The Vista
Jason Lynn Winningham is another hometown boy. He was born and raised in Crossville, TN. He is the oldest of 4 children, having a brother and 2 sisters. As a youngster he wanted to become a state trooper or a doctor and did study nursing for a while.
Jason worked in construction, having family training at a young age, primarily by his father who was of Mennonite faith. At 19 he became an auxiliary officer for the Crossville police. Jason then worked for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office as a 911 dispatcher. He also worked as a Lake Tansi Security officer before becoming an officer for the Crossville police, where he gave orientation and training to new hires on writing reports.
In 2005, after 16 weeks of training, Jason went to work for the THP – Tennessee Highway Patrol. He was part of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division based at the District 2 Commercial Vehicle Scale Complex in Coffee County, TN. Within a short time Jason became certified to inspect hazardous material cargo.
Jason continued with the THP as one of 8 Post-Crash inspectors of commercial vehicles which took him all over the state of Tennessee.
He was then transferred to the THP District 6 in Cookeville, TN as a road trooper working midnights patrolling across Cumberland, Putnam and Smith counties. In 2006 Jason was awarded “Trooper of the Year” in Commercial Vehicle Scales and received 4 awards for “Top DUI Enforcement Trooper” in District 6.
In 2012 Jason went to work for Fairfield Glade Public Safety under Chief Randy Hoover. In June 2013 he was promoted to sergeant where he works the night shift.
Jason and his wife Cathy, a pharmacy technician, live in Crossville on a small farm. They have 2 boys, TJ and DJ. Jason would love to own a ranch in Petroleum County, Montana. We are glad for your service, Sergeant!
